ABOUT US

Krisha Kaye

Vocals & Keyboard

Krisha always knew she wanted to perform from a young age. Following in the footsteps of her Grandfather and Uncle, she learnt many instruments during her school years including: piano, saxophone, clarinet, violin and viola; all to a grade 6 standard level. She completed her GCSEs and A Levels focusing on the subjects of Music, Dance and Drama achieving outstanding grades.

After this, Krisha auditioned for and chose to attend Performers College in Essex. Here, she trained for three years in Musical Theatre and achieved a Level 6 Diploma. After Performers College Krisha was offered a job as a Lead Vocalist at Warner Leisure Hotels. At the hotel she performed in production shows and created her own cabaret shows.

Since this time Krisha has also completed her BA(Hons) in Theatre at the Guildford School of Acting. Following Warner Leisure Hotels, Krisha applied to work on cruise ships and accepted a job as a Lead Vocalist in a 4-piece band where she was also challenged to play her saxophone and keyboard again. She worked in this band for nearly two years and this is where she met Paul.

Paul Moody

Guitar & Vocals

Paul was born and raised in Leicester and his main influence was his father. Paul was inspired from attending his father’s band rehearsals from a young age, which then encouraged him to start learning the guitar and he began having lessons from the age of 13.

In his early 20s Paul had huge success in an originals band called Violet Cities. The band performed at several venues across England, featuring on ‘BBC Radio Introducing’ and after defeating over 300 bands in competition, they performed at the Leicester Music Festival which was held at the Leicester Tigers ground.

When the band eventually parted ways, Paul turned to the world of YouTube. He started recording covers mainly of his favourite Beatles songs and uploading them. In a very short time his channel grew and became immensely popular reaching over 17,000 subscribers; and is still rising to this day. Thanks to his success on YouTube it landed him a cruise ship audition with a 4-piece band onboard Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, this is where he met Krisha.

Paul joined the band as a rhythm guitarist and bass player, and began singing lead vocals on certain songs having never sang lead vocals in a live band before. He now sings plenty of lead vocal songs and has made great progress with the help of Krisha’s vocal techniques and guidance. After working in the band with Krisha for 8 months, they came to the decision that the way forward was to start up MK Music, and started the company off with MoodKayenne Duo! Since then Paul has now started up The MonoKhromes party band which now runs alongside the duo as a part of MK Music.

Chris Dodd

Bass & Vocals

Chris was brought up within a very musical and arty family. His mother and father were often found starring in and helping with the production of the musicals and plays at their local theatre. This love of theatre was embedded into all of their children. Chris and his siblings spent many years at the local amdram company Berzerk Productions all performing together in many shows over the years. At home, they each had their own instruments they went on to learn. Chris’s sister learnt piano, his brother guitar and Chris the bass guitar.

The reason for Chris learning bass stems from his brother needing a bassist for his heavy metal band. Chris had a couple years of bass playing under his belt at this point and was up to the challenge of the technical playing ability required for playing to that genre. At this time, Chris had also started playing with his Dad’s rock and roll band covering hits from the 50’s to 90’s. Chris fell in love with playing bass and was inspired to go to the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford to further his learnings of the instrument.

After his studies, Chris went travelling to Australia/New Zealand for 18 months and when returned, he was very eager to play in a function band. In fact, whilst on holiday in New Zealand Chris was flicking through a UK musicians group on facebook and found an appealing advert for a bass guitarist in his home county. (This advert was from a northerner called Paul Moody. Despite his surname, his advert was rather cheery.) Chris messaged with interest and only a few weeks later hit it off with Paul, Krisha and Jamie at the first practice. Since then Chris not only brings up the average height, but is always up for a laugh, boogies continuously on stage, and completes the rhythm section of the band superbly.

Jamie Felton

Drums & Vocals

Jamie began playing the drums aged 11, learning the basics of groove and fills from the video game, ‘Rockband’, and quickly found his way to ‘expert’ level. He soon transitioned to the real kit at school and learnt it as a second instrument alongside the guitar, where his main expertise lie, gaining a distinction in grade 8 aged 16.

Jamie works as a full-time musician, mixing a life of gigging at the weekends with teaching the guitar and drums during the week to over 50 students. He also writes, arranges, records and co-produces his own original music of multiple different genres, and releases his songs on Youtube and Spotify, gaining streams into the tens of thousands. This love for songwriting developed during his time at The Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford where he achieved a first class honours degree in Music and Songwriting in 2017.

Whilst drumming, Jamie provides both backing and lead vocals for The MonoKhromes. He’s certainly the comical one of the group, providing cheeky banter behind the kit, adding a friendly and dynamic ora to the band’s overall performance, not to mention the top quality jokes! (He made me put that) His drumming style concentrates heavily on the exploitation of cymbals and fills, a key ingredient to his grade 8 drum qualification achieved in 2020.
