How much do you charge?
This can depend on a range of things such as the type of event, location, how many sets you would like us to play and what booking options you choose to go for. Please get in touch via our contact form and we can provide you with a free non-commitment quote!
Do you provide a DJ service in between live sets?
The band can provide music between sets. Like many modern DJs, we use a tablet containing thousands of popular party songs from every era that flow straight into the next song, keeping the lively atmosphere going all night long! This will be unmanned and is included as standard in all of our booking options. We are happy to take any requests in advance of the date, to put in to the playlist. However, if you would like the playlist to be manned where a member of the band can take requests on the night and queue particular songs, that is not a problem, but please note there will be an additional charge for this option.
How long do you take to set up?
Assuming that the venue has straight forward access to the stage area from the load in/parking area, the duo require up to 1 hour to set up and soundcheck, the band require up to 2 hours.
Where are you based and where will you travel to?
We are based in Oxfordshire, so our lowest fees tend to start in Oxfordshire! We are willing to travel across the UK, but please be aware that we will need to add travel and accommodation costs accordingly. Your quote will include travel and/or accommodation costs.
Can I see you perform live before making any decisions?
Due to the nature of our work, we don’t usually play many public gigs as the majority of the events we perform at tend to be private weddings and parties. We try to offset this situation by making sure we have plenty of promotional material, including lots of live recordings. You can check out our live recordings over on our social media pages, scroll to the bottom of this web page for all social media pages! However, should we get the occasional public gig, they will be promoted on our social media pages for each act. You are more than welcome to come and watch us at a public gig, just drop us a line and we will let you know!
Will you learn our first dance song?
We charge just £50 for a song request, but please be aware that although we are always willing to try and learn your special song, if the particular song isn’t suited to our playing style and sound, unfortunately we may be in a position where we are unable to learn it. Therefore, we can look at other options such as a different song choice (if you don’t have a particular preference), or we can look at playing the track through our PA system for no additional cost. Please ensure you let us know your song choice well in advance (at least 6 weeks prior to your event), so it gives us plenty of time to prepare. If your song is not chosen within this time period, you are at risk of us not being able to learn it in time and we are likely to reject your request.
How long do you play for?
The MonoKhromes
As standard the band offer the choice of either 2 x 60 minute sets or 3 x 40 minute sets, with our DJ playlist in between, before and/or after the live sets if required. We are able to finish any time up until midnight. Should you wish to add any more additional sets, or have us finish later than midnight, that is not a problem, however our fee will increase depending on what you require.
MoodKayenne Duo
Depending on what event you are booking the duo for, we have different options available. Head over to our MoodKayenne Duo page where you will find all the information you need regarding performance times and options.
Does either act have PAT and PLI certificates?
Yes! If your venue requires proof of these just let us know and we can email them over.
Can we see any previous client testimonials?
Absolutely, you can find testimonials for the band & duo
here.
Can we, or any of our guests sing a song with you?
We are happy for you or one of your guests to sing a song with the band, but we like to make sure that those singing with the band have some experience of being on stage and singing, as our equipment is expensive and needs to be looked after. Also, this would need to be arranged beforehand and scheduled into the event, as past experience has taught us that welcoming impromptu guests onto the stage, without discussing the key and structure of the song can often end in disaster!
Are we able to provisionally book you?
Unfortunately, we are unable to take any provisional bookings as we must leave all dates available to any potential clients. However, should you wish to fully secure a booking for either act, all we require is a 50% deposit from the quote we provided you, and once we have received this deposit we will then fully secure your date and will no longer take on any other enquiries. Please read our full terms and conditions on our contract before making any payments.
Can we pick the band/duos setlist?
We are happy for you to highlight any of your favourites from either acts repertoire, however we do prefer to pick a setlist that we know works well for certain scenarios, (such as keeping a dance floor filled!) We like to be able to take control of our setlist should we need to deviate from the original setlist if the mood requires it. From our experience, highlighting some of your favourites, or any you DON’T want us to do tends to work best! We will then fill in the rest for what we know will work well, and do our best to include as many of your favourites as possible throughout the night.
What equipment & lighting do you use?
The duo use a more basic set up, as their gigs tend to be in the daytime for events such as ceremonies or afternoon sets. The band uses a more detailed set up and also include lighting equipment to create a great party atmosphere, and to light up the dance floor! Here is a list of all of the equipment that we use here at MK Music:
